Abs-solutely Painful
If you ever had a hyper-active squirrel running around inside your belly, then you would know how I felt last Saturday morning. Yeap, I had stomach pain for a few days, but I have recovered now, finally.
It was all started last Saturday when I woke up. I had such a severe pain in my stomach that I had to struggle to get up. Although it got better by the hour, still I needed to lie on my bed for the whole day, doing nothing (which, come to think of it, describes all of my weekends). I felt the pain got worse when I moved so I couldn’t do anything. I could not do my work, I could not play badminton, I could not play my guitar,..… wait, uhm, I still cannot play guitar now,.. but I really really could not play guitar on that day.
The unusual things were that I did not get diarrhea and the pain was concentrated around my navel. Therefore, after reading some information on the Internet for a while, I was worried that my pain was related to appendicitis. I wanted to see a doctor, but later I decided to postpone it, especially since I still did not know how to pronounce the word “appendicitis” (“Doc, I think I have …umm…appe…aipindah…appaeiaaaa…?”)
Fortunately the pain got better in the evening, which prompted me to skip seeing a doctor. Well, I guess that the medical info that I read on the Internet was not true. Gosh, all the rubbish info that you can find online. Do you know that any idiot can put any type of stupid and irrational information freely on the Internet without any fear of reprisal? I know. That’s why I write this blog.
Anyway, the pain was less, but then it managed to stay on until the next day, Sunday. It got better and better but still I can still feel the bloating and a little pain, and it continued until Monday. I still did not get any diarrhea, which kinda unfair. Usually the only good thing about having an abdominal pain is that you also have diarrhea, which causes you to loose some weight. But it did not happen in my case. It stayed like that until Monday afternoon. So, I finally decided to go see a doctor. I want my diarrhea!
I went and told the doctor about the pain. He asked me to lie down and check my stomach by pressing several areas on my tummy. I don’t know what they taught him at medical school but I really could not figure out what he tried to find out by pressing my belly. He’s probably thinking “umm.. those are fat… some more fat here… hey, more fat here…., yup definitely fat there..”. At least that’s what I thought when I tried the same thing later when I got home.
He gave me three types of medicine that I still consume now even though I have already felt recovered. The doctor told me to finish all of them and I intend to follow his instruction. Because maybe then I can get my diarrhea.
